Our Story

How it all started...

Following God's prompting in December of 2012, Pastor Jeremy H. Upton founded the City of Refuge Church also known as "Refuge" in the south Miami-Dade area. With a vision to serve God, each other, and our community in biblical, balanced, and beneficial ways, Refuge is already making its mark for the Kingdom of God.
We are a Spirit-filled, Kingdom-oriented church that seeks to meet the needs of our community in relevant, transformative, and impactful ways for Jesus Christ.
At the Refuge Church, it's okay to not be okay. But it's NOT okay to stay that way!

We started meeting at The Bethel Church.

Our journey eventually took us to a banquet hall.

We spent a few years in a building that served us well in the season.

we've met in movie theaters and county parks

and through it all, the spirit has been with us

Where we Find ourselves...

In this season, God has blessed us with an opportunity to worship in the very community we've been called to serve. On Sunday mornings at 10:30, we worship in the beautiful campus of Mandarin Lakes K-8 Academy (12225 SW 280th Street, Homestead, FL 33032). We've developed a wonderful partnership with this school and the organizations that surround it.

A few miles up the street, you'll find The Living Room (15600 SW 288th Street, Suite 304, Homestead, FL 33033), where we host our Kingdom Seekers Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm, some of our small groups, and our main church office.
